The Arp Tigers are set to host the Shelbyville Dragons in a highly anticipated football game this Friday night at Bill Herrington Tiger Stadium in Arp. Both teams enter the contest with undefeated 3-0 records. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

This matchup marks the first time the two teams have played since 2016, when Arp secured a 62-14 victory over Shelbyville. The Dragons are putting their perfect record on the line after strong performances in their first three games of the season.

Under fifth-year head coach Wes Schminkey, the Arp Tigers enter the game with a 3-0 start, building on a 12-2 record from last season. This year, Arp has defeated Waskom 43-7, Garrison 61-27, and White Oak 46-7. Coach Schminkey noted that the team is "getting better and better each week," crediting the players' hard work and dedication.

Shelbyville, led by sixth-year head coach Jerred Wallace, has also achieved a 3-0 start to their season. The Dragons opened with a 34-0 shutout against Sabine, followed by a narrow 43-42 victory over Hooks, and a 42-9 win against Corrigan-Camden last week.

Arp’s success has been anchored by key players, including quarterback Ty Langley. Langley, who also plays safety on defense and contributes to the kicking game, delivered a six-touchdown performance against Garrison two weeks ago. Schminkey praised Langley, describing him as a tough competitor who performs at a high level. The Tigers' offensive line, composed of "a whole bunch of new faces," has also drawn commendation from Schminkey. He noted their consistent improvement, attributing it to their daily work, film study with coach Grandgeorge, and hard practice, which translates to their performance on Friday nights.

Looking at the opposing team, Schminkey shared his assessment of Shelbyville. He observed that their defense appears "very physical it looks like on film," highlighting their ability to quickly shed blocks and pursue the ball. On offense, Schminkey noted that Shelbyville possesses a "really good quarterback," capable receivers, and effective running backs, concluding that they are "a good football team."

This game will unfold at Bill Herrington Tiger Stadium, providing an early season test for both undefeated programs.
