Brownsboro Independent School District employees can now receive discounted tuition rates when pursuing advanced degrees at The University of Texas at Tyler. This partnership aims to enhance educational opportunities for district staff, supporting their professional growth and addressing the ongoing regional and statewide teacher shortage in East Texas.

Through its School of Education, UT Tyler will collaborate with Brownsboro ISD to offer an accelerated master’s degree in educational leadership, which includes principal certification. Additionally, special opportunities for other graduate degrees will be available. These programs are delivered entirely online, designed to accommodate working professionals within the district.

UT Tyler President Julie V. Philley, MD, stated that this agreement reflects the strength of a longstanding partnership and a collective commitment to creating meaningful opportunities that benefit the region. She highlighted the role of Dr. D. Robert DeHaas, who was appointed as the School of Education’s dean in May to lead initiatives focused on teacher education and improving K-12 outcomes across East Texas.

Brownsboro ISD Superintendent Dr. Keri Hampton emphasized the district's investment in its employees, describing them as essential to the future of the district. Dr. Hampton explained that the partnership makes advanced degrees and professional certifications more accessible for teachers and staff. She added that by investing in staff, the district is investing in the knowledge, skills, and experiences they bring to classrooms, ultimately contributing to the success of every student.

This collaboration represents a strategic investment in the future of public education throughout the East Texas region. By making advanced education more accessible, both institutions aim to foster continuous growth among educators and strengthen the educational workforce.
