Lindale clinched a 49-46 victory over rival Van Friday night at Van Memorial Stadium, largely due to a late-game touchdown run by quarterback David Lindig. With just 36 seconds remaining in the contest, Lindig broke free for a 32-yard score, securing the win for Lindale.
Lindig was a pivotal force in Lindale's offense throughout the game. He completed 14 of 18 passes for a total of 292 yards and contributed four passing touchdowns. On the ground, Lindig added 45 yards on four carries, culminating in his game-winning rushing touchdown.
Other significant contributors for Lindale included Hank Thurman, who amassed 69 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries. Receiver JB Ray was a key target, making five catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns. Ray also found the end zone on a two-yard rushing play. Reed Carnathan also delivered a strong performance with four receptions for 112 yards and two touchdowns. On the defensive side, Carnathan was credited with six tackles and one tackle for loss.
Van's offense mounted a substantial effort in the high-scoring affair, with Rawly Hinch leading the charge. Hinch completed 19 of 27 passes for 271 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception. He was equally effective in the run game, carrying the ball 16 times for 126 yards and scoring four rushing touchdowns. Parker Rainey contributed to Van’s robust ground attack, gaining 151 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries. Tim Jones also made an impact with 101 rushing yards on 11 carries. In the receiving game, Cash Walker secured six catches for 101 yards and one touchdown, while Braxton Bass pulled in seven receptions for 76 yards.
Defensively for Van, Lincoln Laing was a notable performer, recording 17 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, and recovering a fumble. Ethan Bowman also made significant contributions with 12 tackles and an interception.
With this win, Lindale’s season record improved to 3-0. Van's record now stands at 2-1 following the close contest.
Looking ahead, Lindale is scheduled to host Chapel Hill for their District 8-4A Division I opener this coming Friday. Van will travel to Pittsburg for their next game, also on Friday.
