Pets Fur People in Tyler is seeking a permanent home for Penny, a nearly seven-year-old dog who has spent much of her life waiting for a stable family. Penny, described by her previous families as "incredibly sweet and well-behaved," is available for adoption for $100. A reduced fee of $50 is offered for senior citizens aged 65 and older through the Seniors for Seniors program.
Penny first arrived at Pets Fur People as a two-month-old puppy after being rescued from an overcrowded living situation. Since then, she has been adopted twice, but both placements unfortunately did not become her forever home. Her first family had to return her when they moved into a rental property that did not permit dogs. Her second adoption concluded when it became clear that Penny truly thrives as the only pet in a household.
Despite these setbacks, Penny's temperament remains consistent. She is known for walking beautifully on a leash, enjoying attention, and possessing significant affection to share. Her ideal home is one where she can be the sole companion, enjoy her daily walks, and receive the love she has to give without competition from other animals. This might be a single person looking for a loyal companion or a family without existing pets who has room in their hearts for one very deserving girl.
At nearly seven years old, Penny has spent considerable time in the shelter system waiting for the right match. Pets Fur People states that she has been someone's dog twice before, and the organization is now focused on finding her a lasting home where she can finally know she belongs.
For those not immediately ready to commit to adoption, Penny is also available through the Pets Fur People Borrow-a-Buddy program, which allows individuals to spend quality time with her outside the shelter environment.
To apply to adopt Penny, prospective families must complete an adoption application online. A completed application is required before a meet-and-greet can be scheduled with Penny.
Pets Fur People is open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For additional information, the organization can be reached by visiting their website or by calling 903-597-2471, extension 1.
