The Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week awards for Week 5 of the season have been announced, recognizing six student-athletes for their exceptional on-field performance. Among the honorees are Randle High School’s Landen Williams-Callis, a five-star running back, who claimed the Class 5A distinction, and Argyle Liberty Christian’s Cooper Witten, son of former Dallas Cowboy and future Hall of Famer Jason Witten, who was named the private school winner. The awards highlight excellence on the field, leadership in the classroom, and community involvement.
In Class 6A, Vela quarterback Caidey Hoover earned recognition after a dominant performance in a victory over Los Fresnos. Hoover completed 10 of 15 passes for 232 yards and threw four touchdowns. He also contributed significantly on the ground, carrying the ball 15 times for 109 yards and scoring two rushing touchdowns. Landen Williams-Callis of Randle High School, the Class 5A winner, rushed for 235 yards and five touchdowns on just 11 carries in a win against Dulles. This performance further extended his Houston-area record, bringing his career rushing total to 8,392 yards and his career touchdown total to 140.
Graham quarterback Cooper Corley was named the Class 4A player of the week. In a victory over Peaster, Corley completed 16 of 27 passes for 307 yards and two scores. He also proved to be a dual threat, rushing 12 times for 132 yards and four touchdowns, and even catching a 29-yard touchdown pass. In Class 3A, Whitney’s Kobe Haynes, who plays both quarterback and receiver, was honored. Haynes completed 17 of 32 passes for 221 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 248 yards and four scores in a win against Mexia.
Sonora quarterback Aaron Segura received the Class 2A award for his outstanding offensive output. Segura completed 38 of 49 passes for an impressive 634 yards and seven touchdowns during his team's win over Colorado City. Cooper Witten, the private school recipient from Argyle Liberty Christian, showcased his versatility in a win over Trinity Christian Academy. On defense, Witten recorded nine tackles, a sack, a pass breakup, and a quarterback hurry. Offensively, he added two catches for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Now in its 21st season, the Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week award consistently recognizes outstanding student-athletes not only for their achievements on the football field but also for their commitment to leadership in the classroom and their respective communities.
Each of these weekly winners will now be considered for the prestigious Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Year award, to be announced later in the season.
