Camille Marlin, an alumna of Tyler Junior College, has earned her degree from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and is set to begin her professional career in commercial real estate. Marlin will join Stream Realty Partners, a prominent firm, as an analyst, following her graduation from SMU's Cox School of Business. Her academic path was significantly aided by the Brookshire SMU/TJC Transfer Scholarship, which facilitated her move from Tyler to Dallas for advanced studies.

Marlin commenced her college education at Tyler Junior College, where she completed an Associate of Science in General Studies in 2022. Upon her graduation from TJC, she was awarded the Brookshire SMU/TJC Transfer Scholarship. This program, established in 2022 by TJC Board of Trustees member Ann Brookshire and her family, provides substantial financial assistance to students transferring from Tyler Junior College to Southern Methodist University. The scholarship offers $10,000 annually, disbursed as $5,000 per semester, and is renewable for up to five terms or until the student's graduation from SMU. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA while at SMU, with preference given to those enrolled in the Cox School of Business.

Ann Brookshire expressed satisfaction with Marlin's achievements, noting the scholarship's role. Brookshire observed that "Camille has set a very high bar with her graduation" and successfully integrated into the Cox School of Business, utilizing its opportunities. Marlin herself credited the scholarship with enabling her to maximize her academic and professional experiences at SMU, fostering confidence through the belief others held in her potential. She conveyed deep gratitude for the support from the Brookshire family throughout her time at the university.

Marlin's strong foundation was laid at Tyler Junior College, where she highlighted the positive influence of faculty, coaches, and mentors in her academic and personal growth. She reflected that her time as a student-athlete at TJC instilled discipline, resilience, and the ability to balance demanding academics with athletics, profoundly strengthening her work ethic and commitment to service. This foundational experience, she said, was crucial in preparing her for one of the nation’s top business programs. Her graduation from Southern Methodist University represents years of hard work, faith, sacrifice, and personal growth.
