Camille Marlin, an alumna of Tyler Junior College, has graduated from Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business and will begin her career as an analyst with Stream Realty Partners, a leading commercial real estate firm. Marlin, who earned an Associate of Science in General Studies from TJC in 2022, received the Brookshire SMU/TJC Transfer Scholarship, which provided significant financial and academic support for her university education.
The highly regarded Brookshire scholarship, established in 2022, offers $10,000 annually, dispersed as $5,000 per semester. It is renewable for up to five terms or until graduation, provided transfer students maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA at SMU. Preference for the award is given to students within the Cox School of Business. TJC Board of Trustees member Ann Brookshire expressed her satisfaction with Marlin's achievements, noting that “Camille has set a very high bar with her graduation.” Brookshire added that it would be a “joy to watch her future accomplishments.”
Marlin credits the scholarship with enabling her success at SMU. She stated that receiving the scholarship allowed her to "take full advantage of every opportunity available to me at SMU" and instilled confidence. She also expressed gratitude for the Brookshire family's support and encouragement. Her graduation from Southern Methodist University, Marlin said, represents years of hard work, faith, sacrifice, and growth.
Marlin began her academic journey at Tyler Junior College, where she completed her associate's degree. She highlighted the lasting influence of TJC’s faculty, coaches, and mentors who helped shape her academic and personal development. Marlin credited this experience for teaching her discipline, resilience, and how to manage academics and athletics at a high level. She also noted that her time as a student athlete significantly strengthened her work ethic, propelling her into one of the nation's top business programs.
