Camille Marlin, an alumna of Tyler Junior College (TJC), has begun her career as an analyst with Stream Realty Partners, a commercial real estate firm, following her graduation from Southern Methodist University (SMU) Cox School of Business. Marlin earned an Associate of Science in General Studies from TJC in 2022, at which time she was awarded the Brookshire SMU/TJC Transfer Scholarship. This highly regarded scholarship provided financial support and opened access to academic and professional opportunities within SMU’s Cox School of Business.

The Brookshire SMU/TJC Transfer Scholarship was established in 2022, offering recipients $10,000 annually, disbursed as $5,000 per semester. This financial aid is provided in addition to any existing transfer scholarships or other financial aid a student may receive. The scholarship is renewable for up to five terms or until graduation, contingent upon transfer students maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA while at SMU, with preference given to students enrolled in the Cox School of Business. Marlin stated that receiving the scholarship allowed her to fully utilize the opportunities at SMU, giving her confidence in her potential and future.

Marlin's academic journey began at TJC, where she excelled and credited the college’s faculty, coaches, and mentors for their lasting influence on her academic and personal development. She highlighted that her experience as a student-athlete at TJC taught her discipline, resilience, and how to manage academics and athletics at a high level. Marlin noted that this experience strengthened her work ethic and taught her commitment and service to others. These foundational experiences at TJC propelled her into one of the nation’s top business programs at SMU.

Reflecting on her recent graduation, Marlin shared that earning her degree from Southern Methodist University represents "years of hard work, faith, sacrifice, and growth." TJC Board of Trustees member Ann Brookshire expressed her satisfaction with Marlin’s achievements, particularly in connection with the transfer scholarship bearing her family’s name. Brookshire remarked that Camille "has set a very high bar with her graduation" and observed her smooth transition and engagement with opportunities at the Cox School of Business.
