Tyler's Viva La Rosa group commenced its preparations for the 2026 Texas Rose Festival Parade on Sunday, September 27, 2026, with a celebratory tea party at Pyron Garden. Thirty quinceañeras, their family members, and supporters gathered to mark the group's fifth consecutive year of participation in the city's annual parade. The event served as a kickoff for Viva La Rosa's float in the upcoming 93rd Texas Rose Festival, according to organizer and community liaison Paulina Pedroza.

The tea party provided an occasion for participants to celebrate culture, tradition, friendship, and memories, Pedroza stated. Attendees enjoyed a charcuterie board and rose-themed desserts, among other items. The 2026 Texas Rose Festival is scheduled for October 15-18, with the Rose Parade set for 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 17. The parade route will begin at Front Street and Glenwood Boulevard, proceed west on Front Street, and conclude inside the Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

Viva La Rosa's parade entry traditionally features over 30 quinceañeras, alongside bailé folklórico, Aztec dancers, a Tejano band, and Mariachi Los Caporales.

The Viva La Rosa tradition originated in 2022. Tyler-area immigration lawyer Ginger Young, whose daughter Olivia Bristol Young was the 2022 Texas Rose Festival Princess, initiated the effort. Young's objective was to integrate Latino culture into Tyler’s prominent tradition, the Texas Rose Festival, which began in 1933 to celebrate the city’s rose industry. Most festival events occur in October, leading up to the Rose Parade.

Young's inspiration for Viva La Rosa stemmed from the traditional quinceañera celebration. Initially, she planned to sponsor a float for her daughter. However, she developed a broader concept to highlight Tyler's diverse Hispanic community. What began as a modest aim to have a few girls on the float quickly expanded into a substantial operation. This growth involved significant contributions from numerous members of the local Hispanic community, including local businesses and individual supporters.

Since its establishment in 2022, Viva La Rosa has become a significant feature of the Texas Rose Festival parade and a recognized community tradition. Paulina Pedroza described Viva La Rosa as the "immersion of the Latino community in the traditional Rose parade" after more than 90 years of the festival's existence.

As the group observes its fifth year in the Rose Parade this October, its participants and organizers continue to foster its role in the festival. The 93rd Texas Rose Festival will provide the next opportunity for Viva La Rosa to showcase its contributions to the city's beloved annual event.
