The SPCA of East Texas in Tyler is featuring five adoptable pets at its 3245 W. Grande Blvd. adoption center this week, from Monday, September 21, to Sunday, September 27, 2026. Residents interested in providing a forever home can meet cats Romo and Nanny, and dogs Bizkit, Teddy, and Fred, all of whom are seeking new families.
Romo, a Domestic Medium Hair (DMH) mix, was found as a stray and has an estimated birth date of May 14. He is currently learning to trust people and associate them with affection. Romo has received his vaccinations, is microchipped, and is scheduled to be neutered soon. The SPCA of East Texas is seeking an indoor-only home for him, where he can feel secure and experience the love of a family.
Nanny, a 5-year-old Domestic Shorthair (DSH) mix, possesses a distinct personality. She is litterbox trained and has always lived indoors, preferring the comfort and safety of a home environment. Nanny is FIV-positive, meaning she would thrive either as the sole cat in a household or alongside other FIV-positive felines. The SPCA notes that cats with FIV can lead long, healthy, and normal lives. Nanny can tolerate calm, easygoing dogs and is prepared to settle into a permanent home where she can be herself.
Bizkit is a Heeler and Dachshund mix, born on April 20, 2024, and weighs 28 pounds. She is potty-trained, crate-trained, and walks effectively on a leash. While she enjoys the company of cats, she can be particular about other dogs and is best suited for a home without small children. Bizkit forms strong bonds with those who spend time with her and is happiest when receiving attention and sharing life with her person. This young and active dog enjoys walks and has been fully vetted, making her ready for a loving family.
Teddy, a 3-year-old, 85-pound Labrador mix, is also seeking a new home after being surrendered. Described by the SPCA as a "true gentle giant," Teddy is housebroken, walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and rides comfortably in a car. He has shown an ability to get along with other animals but requires separate feeding arrangements. Teddy is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on his vaccinations, making him adaptable to most home environments.
Fred, an adorable Labrador and Pyrenees mix, has an estimated birth date of July 13. He and his siblings arrived at the SPCA of East Texas when they were just three weeks old, having been rescued from a neglect case that involved 21 other dogs. Now safe and cared for, Fred is ready to find his forever family. He is good with both dogs and children, is crate-trained, and is in the process of learning house manners and how to use a doggie door. Fred has been vaccinated, microchipped, and is scheduled for neutering. He is expected to grow into a large dog, so a secure fenced yard is recommended for his future home. Fred is described as sweet, playful, and eager to become a loyal companion.
